MORE THAN 300 JOINED THE ECLIPSE PRAYER

NIBONG TEBAL, 3rd March 2016 – More than 300 USM populace inclusive of staffs and students prayed the eclipse prayer organized by Engineering Campus Islamic Centre here this morning.

The Sunnah (Voluntary) prayer which was held at 8.45am was led (Imam) by the Islamic Affairs Officer, Ustaz Mohd Mohsin Sirun which was followed by the eclipse sermon delivered by the Head of Unit, Islamic Centre, Engineering Campus, Ustaz Mohammad Shukri Osman.

The parallel solar eclipse phenomena began at 7.24 am and lasted until 9.30am.

Mohammad Shukri in his sermon stressed, when an eclipse occur, as muslims we are encouraged by the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) to be steadfast in performing related ibadah such as doa’, dhikr (remembrance of Allah), prayers, takbir (call to prayer), giving alms and istighfar (seeking forgiveness from Allah)

Besides that, he urged all present to do good deeds and to avoid bad deeds and vices as well as shirk (ascribing a partner or rival to Allah) which are against Islamic teachings.

God willing, the event of the solar eclipse would bring repentance and further strengthens our faith and taqwa (piety) to Allah”.
