A student, Muhammad Danial Hakim Mohd Suhaimi, 18, said that this visit gave him and his collegemates the opportunity to discover the diversity of courses offered by USM.
"Previously I thought that engineering is a field with limited subjects to explore.
"However, this visit gives me a new definition of engineering which is actually divided into various subdivisions such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering as well as Civil Engineering," Danial added.
The visit is part of the Program Lestari Pelajar Pra-Universiti USM for the academic session of 2017/2018 organized by the Academic Management Division, Registrar Department of USM.
A total of 222 students were involved in the visit and was part of a program that aims to provide excellent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students with the opportunity to enroll into various courses offered at USM.
Deputy Dean of Academics, Students and Alumni from the School of Physics, Professor Dr. Fauziah Sulaiman, as the Program Coordinator, hopes that the program will improve the rank and image of USM in various critical areas.
"The implementation of this program is to produce excellent graduates from pre-graduate levels who are capable of pursuing post-graduate studies (M.Sc and PhD) in USM.
"It is hoped the quality of graduates produced through this program will help to improve USM's international status as a university in critical areas such as engineering and medicine," she added.

Apart from visiting the Laboratories and Schools, these pre-university students also had a tour around the Engineering Campus before bidding farewell.
