SEEE ENGINEERING DESIGN EXHIBITION 2024, THE HIGHLIGHT EVENT FOR THE ENGINEERING DESIGN COURSE

NIBONG TEBAL, 22 January 2024 - The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering had successfully organized the SEEE Engineering Capstone Design Exhibition 2024 which was recently held at the Multipurpose Hall, Engineering Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

Officiated by the Director of the Engineering Campus of USM, Professor Datin Dr. Azlina Harun @ Kamaruddin, the program was aimed at providing a platform for student groups to showcase their prototypes and interact with stakeholders, attracting local industry interest, and promoting technological entrepreneurship among them.

The exhibition is the engineering design highlight event for Electronics, Mechatronics and Electrical engineering programmes and not just a celebration of academic achievements but a demonstration of the students' commitment to shaping a future powered by innovation and technological advancement.

Meanwhile, the Engineering Design course encourages close interaction between students, user communities and stakeholders on proposed solutions and aims to develop students' ability to design solutions to complex engineering problems.

This year's event focused on six main objectives under the theme "Accelerating Malaysia's Digital Transformation" which are Educational Technology Integration, Environmental Conservation, Industrial Automation, Transportation and Mobility, Food Security, and Sustainable Farming, and Renewable Energy Integration.

A total of 40 groups made up of 204 final year Electrical and Electronic Engineering students showcased their innovations in the exhibition, competing for the Most Innovative Design, Most Sustainable Design, Most Impactful Design, Outstanding Project Video and Overall Best Project Award.

The exhibition was also attended by Dr. Hari Narayanan P Ondiveeran, Chief Executive Officer of the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC), Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Shahrel Azmin Sundi @ Suandi, the Dean of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Rosmiwati Mohd Mokhtar, Deputy Dean (Academic, Career & International) of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
