EXCITED TO FURTHER STUDIES IN USM ENGINEERING FIELD

KULIM, 24 November 2015 – 283 second semester matriculation students from MARA Kulim College are excited in furthering their studies in the engineering field at the University Sains Malaysia (USM) after being briefed and exposed to the opportunities as well as the courses offered during the Matriculation Re-Orientation Programme Education Ministry Malaysia (MKPM) here yesterday.

According to the Chairperson, Promotional Committee Engineering Campus, Dr. Farzad Ismail said the programme must be more regularly implemented in promoting USM specifically while providing exposure to students in relations to the engineering field.

 “Such programmes would provide the opportunity for us to relay the correct and precise information to the students whereby the majority of them have thought that USM only offers courses relating to the science field”, he explained.

 “Most of the students present have shown a keen interest in furthering their studies in the engineering field in Universiti Sains Malaysia”, he added.

Farzad who is also the Deputy Dean (Research & Innovation), School of Aerospace Engineering (PPK Aero) was also satisfied with the commitment and cooperation shown by all the representatives who are collectively present in the efforts of promoting the university.

 “I view this as a good start and should be continued in future within a larger scope”, added the young lecturer.

Meanwhile, the Counselor, Kulim Mara College, Miss Siti Mahfuzah Shahir @ Abdullah, said these programmes are organized to determine the students path in engineering field after they graduate at the matriculation level.

Mara 6784 “I am confident with the existence of such programmes which would assist and provide knowledge to the students regarding the paths and opportunities offered by the university’, he said.

One of the students met, Nadia Rasyidah Shahidan, said, she has had the ambition of furthering her studies in USM since primary school.

 “For me, the opportunity to study in Universiti Sains Malaysia would be a reward because it is not easy to compete to earn a spot at the APEX university”, said Nadia who is interested in the electrical and electronics engineering field.

The promotional programme received the support and cooperation from the Director’s Office, Academic Department, lecturers and technical staff from the six Engineering Schools at the Engineering Campus.
