“USM’s WELCOME WAS VVIP TREATMENT FOR US” SAID KMK COUNSELOR
NIBONG TEBAL, 27 November 2015 – 76 second semester students of biology, physics and chemistry field from the Science Department, Kedah Matriculation College were excited with their educational visit to the Engineering Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) recently.
The program held at the Auditorium, Engineering Campus, USM was rousing with all sorts of exhibition activities from the USM promotional team, Engineering Campus which consisted of lecturers, technical staffs and students from six engineering schools.
According to the Counselor, Kedah Matriculation College, Rohaidzan Abdul Samad, the visit was held in order to provide accurate information and exposure to the programmes offered by USM as well as to assist students in choosing the field of interest to pursue their studies after graduating from matriculation.
“In fact, this visit was held by the students’ request and USM was selected as most of the students present today are interested in the engineering field”, he explained as the head of the visit.
He also elaborated that previously all the information was received through the USM webpage and he was unable to relay the accurate information to his students.
“The briefing given today is very beneficial and I believe the students have a better understanding and an actual exposure regarding the courses offered by USM”, he said.
“I had not expected it and is very overwhelmed with USM’s welcoming us with a VVIP treatment”, he said while he was visiting the exhibitions at the Auditorium’s Foyer.
Meanwhile, Second Semester Student, Science Department, Kedah Matriculation College, Tan Li Han, said he was very happy because he was able to experience the festivities and to gather all sorts of information directly from the lecturers and USM team available at the exhibitions’ site.
“I wish to make my parents proud and to follow in the footsteps of my sister who studied chemical engineering in USM”, explained the physics student who has an interest in the electrical and electronics engineering.
Also present in providing briefings for the visit were the Dean, School of Civil Engineering, Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Sadullah, Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Dr. Zaidi Mohd Ripin, Deputy Dean Academic, School of Mineral and Resources Engineering, Associate Prof. Ir. Dr. Syed Fuad Saiyid Hashim, Deputy Dean Academic, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Associate Prof. Dr. Norlaili Mohd Noh, Deputy Dean Students’ Development and Network, Associate Prof. Dr. Mohd Azmier Ahmad and Deputy Dean Academic, School of Aerospace Engineering, Dr. Ahmad Zulfaa Mohamed Kassim.
The promotional programme also received cooperation from the Director’s Office, Division of Academic Management, lecturers, technical staff and students from six engineering schools, Engineering Campus.
