DEEPAM CHARITY NIGHT 2016 FOR THOSE IN NEED
NIBONG TEBAL, 27th March 2016 – Deepam Charity Night 2016 organized by the Engineering Indian Cultural Club was celebrated with the presence of 700 guests not only students but from the outside community here last night.
According to EICC Project Manager, Sathiswaran Sangaran in his speech, the success of the event was achieved from teamwork and involvement of sponsors as well as the community’s support.
“All members involved had fulfilled their duties excellently and the teamwork spirit was at a high”, he said.
Sathiswaran also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the sponsors who donated for the success of the charity dinner.
At the same time, EICC Advisor, Professor Madya Dr. Vel Murugan Vadivelu said, the main objective of the programme was to provide aid to students who are less fortunate and come from families who could not afford for them to further their studies.
He added, this year’s programme has indirectly encouraged students involvement in charity work as well as strenghtened the friendship among the campus populace and the community from different races so it will stand the test of times.
“Personally, I strongly support these programmes to be continued in future because it would help the community who are in need of aids in the forms of education, health and basic needs”, he further elaborated.
Among the performances presented for the night were traditional indian dance and the art of self-defense as well as Bharatham, Silambam, Varuna Dancers, RKX Crew, PKI Dance dan Kollatham.
The audience was also entertained by the guest performances by Adikarma and Tiong Hua Language Society, Nibong Tebal Indian Classic Dance and theatre performance from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT), Kulim, Kedah.
The Deepam Charity Dinner in its third year running was further graced by the presence of a local artiste, Magendran Raman and lucky draw along with the presentation of RM2,000 donation cheque to the welfare organisation House of Hope located at Ayer Itam, Penang, from the ticket sales that night.
