ROTU MUST SET EXAMPLE FOR THE COMMUNITY

NIBONG TEBAL, 11th April 2016 – ROTU must be exemplary for the community and continuously contribute to the country, said the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs and Alumni, University Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Dato’ Dr. Adnan Hussein.

He said, the community perceives this University’s students from a different point of view more so for those who are involved in a uniformed body particularly military.

“The University hopes that regardless whatever that is done and wherever you may be, all of you will be carrying the USM name”, said Adnan while giving a speech at the Extensive Training Closing Ceremony, Reserve Officer Training Unit, Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM), here tonight.

The Lieutenant Colonel, (Honour), ROTU TUDM also called for USM students to always give their best to the organisation that they are involved in and then return to the University to sow good deeds to the new students who are in need of guidance.

Adnan added further, the new students must grab the opportunity within the four years at the University to gather as much knowledge and valuable experience which they would not be able to achieve elsewhere.

“The time spent at the University is a beautiful period so utilise it fully to experience all aspects of life available here”, said the National University of Malaysia (UKM) alumni.

He stressed, only through a perfect education and strong discipline would make one a better and excellent person.

“The involvement in ROTU is not only about completing training and receiving accreditation but is more to striving for academic excellence”, he said.

Accompanied by his wife, Datin Kamaliah Siarap, he also entertained those present with the rendition of the song “Bunyi Gitar” made popular by the Late Tan Sri P. Ramlee.

As many as 112 cadets successfully graduated their extensive training for seven days commencing on the 4th of April 2016 which included community sports, compass marching, weapon parade, sword parade, marching, weapons test, explorace, repealing and hiking.

Also present at the ceremony were the Coordinator, Co-Curriculum Planning Center, Major (Honour) Dr. Mohd Salman Abu Mansor ROTU TUDM, Chairman of ROTU, USM, Kapten Dr. Hazizan Mohd Hashim, Base Adjutant, Butterworth, Captain Raja Zul Raja Hassan dan ROTU Airforce Adjutant, USM, Lieutenant Angelin P. Saibun Sambion.
