USM SHINES AT 16TH CHEM-E-CAR COMPETITION WITH THIRD AND FOURTH PLACE FINISHES
KUALA LUMPUR, 1 December 2024 – The teams from the School of Chemical Engineering of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) secured third and fourth place in the 16th Chem-E-Car Competition, held from 30 November to 1 December 2024 at Taylor's University.
This annual event, organised by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Chemical Engineering Technical Division (CETD), brought together 33 teams, including nine from Indonesian universities, making it the ultimate competitive platform for chemical engineering students.
USM's Chem Xpress team took third place, while Flyy High finished in fourth.
Dr. Fadzil Noor Gonawan, the team's supervisor, stated that he was extremely proud of their achievement and congratulated the teams on their remarkable success.
“I would also like to thank our technical staff and students for their hard work and dedication.
“They did a great job, especially given the extremely competitive nature of the competition and the strong teams from UniMAP and Indonesian universities,” said Fadzil.
"Precision in handling chemical reactions was crucial for success," he stated.
Dr. Fadzil also highlighted the contributions of the technical staff, Che Nurnajib Che Aziz, Amirul Azwan Ridzuan, and Muhammad Nazrin Bin Sabudi, who played vital roles in coaching, fabricating, and fine-tuning the Chem-E-Car designs.
"Their expertise and guidance were absolutely vital in preparing our teams for this challenging event," Fadzil stated.
"We will improve our Chem-E-Car designs and compete at an even higher-level next year," he said.
