NIBONG TEBAL, 27 December 2023 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), through the School of Mechanical Engineering (SoME), recently signed a collaboration and donation agreement with Ni Hsin EV Tech, Focus Applied Technologies Sdn Bhd and Dongguan Tailing EV to promote electric mobility.

The main objective of this research collaboration is to demonstrate the viability of existing electric two-wheelers to perform significant useful work in the Malaysian transport environment under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Electric Mobility Study to be conducted in 2023 - 2024.

USM is confident that this collaboration can lead to the University being a strategic partner in this initiative, as it also believes in promoting sustainable solutions.

The 50 units of EBixon Bold motorcycles were donated by Dongguan Tailing EV to various selected end-users for a period of one year, during which time USM will conduct vehicle testing, tracking, and data logging.

The motorcycles were handed over by Ni Hsin EV Tech Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Mr. Khoo Chee Kong, to USM Vice-Chancellor representative, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Wira bin Mohd Shafiei, in a simple handover ceremony at Blackbixon Café, Kuala Lumpur.
