USMCEC 2024: PROMOTING EXCELLENCE, COLLABORATION, AND INNOVATION IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

NIBONG TEBAL, 3 April 2024 - For the second consecutive year, the USM Chemical Engineering Competition (USMCEC) 2024 annual event returns in full physical form for a celebration and immersion into the world of chemical engineering.

In her opening speech, USM Engineering Campus Director, Professor Datin Dr Azlina Haruan @ Kamaruddin said, USMCEC 2024 not only promotes collaboration and teamwork among participants, but also provides an opportunity to dive deeper into the latest technological advancements.

"It provides an opportunity to explore knowledge in the field of chemical engineering, while also serving as a testament to the calibre of talent involved and the commitment to showcase the best and brightest in the industry," says Azlina.

"In addition, the event serves as a vehicle for the holistic development of individuals, recognising that true excellence goes beyond academic achievement and nurtures well-rounded individuals who possess not only intellectual prowess, but also emotional intelligence, creativity, resilience and empathy," she added.

According to Azlina, USMCEC 2024 is also a festival of collective achievement and a testimony to the enduring commitment to excellence, collaboration, and innovation in the field of chemical engineering.

"As participants come together to explore new horizons and push the boundaries of what is possible, they are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to learn, grow and have a lasting impact," she said.

This year's USMCEC 2024 theme is "Reboot, Recycle, Reimagine: Pioneering Sustainable Solutions in E-Waste Management', which highlights the need for innovative approaches to e-waste management and has generated a high level of engagement and enthusiasm among attendees.

Conducted by the School of Chemical Engineering, each category in the competition offers a unique opportunity for participants to showcase their abilities and knowledge in different formats, ranging from traditional presentations and essays to more modern forms such as videos and infographics.
