USM SCHOOL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIPS THROUGH INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION CAMP

SONGKHLA, THAILAND, 1 March 2025 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), through its School of Civil Engineering, recently participated in the USM-RUTS International Collaboration Camp 2025 (Civil Engineering Camp), held from 25 February to 1 March 2025.

The program, hosted by the International Affairs Office of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), brought together 20 USM students and four lecturers from the School of Civil Engineering, along with participants from the Faculty of Engineering, Songkhla Campus, and the Civil Engineering programme of the College of Industrial Technology and Management, Khanom Campus.

The initiative facilitated cross-border academic and cultural exchanges, bringing together students and academic staff from both institutions through a series of structured workshops, including surveying, an earthquake-resistant structure competition, and case-study-based learning.

In addition to the program of engagement, the camp provided a platform for civil engineering research collaboration, where faculty members from both universities exchanged insights and explored potential joint projects.

Funded by the International Mobility and Collaboration Centre (IMCC), USM, under the ‘Short-Term Mobility Program at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya’, this program received an approved grant of RM6,100.00 to support networking opportunities and lay the groundwork for future academic partnerships.

Through the program, the students gained valuable technical expertise, global exposure, teamwork experience, and research knowledge, further enhancing their competitiveness and readiness for the civil engineering industry.
