APPRECIATION AWARDS CELEBRATE DEDICATION AND INNOVATION OF MUSA MOHAMAD LIBRARY STAFF

NIBONG TEBAL, 10 October 2025 - The Musa Mohamad Library Staff Appreciation Awards Ceremony served as a platform to recognise the contributions, commitment, and dedication of its staff, who have been the backbone in supporting academic excellence, research, and innovation at the university.

In her officiating speech, USM Engineering Campus Director, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, expressed her deepest appreciation to all Musa Mohamad Library staff for their unwavering dedication in ensuring that the library remains relevant and efficient in fulfilling its role within the university.

She emphasised that the library is not merely a place to store books or references, but a hub for learning, research, and collaboration for the entire campus community, including lecturers, researchers, students, and the public.

“In today’s rapidly evolving digital era, our library staff have proven their ability to adapt and drive change through various initiatives such as Makerspace@Englib, the digitisation of academic resources, and other innovative efforts that support 21st-century learning,” she said.

Mariatti added that the Engineering Campus’s achievements would not have been possible without the significant contributions of the library staff, who consistently deliver their services with professionalism, courtesy, and accountability.

She noted that the appreciation ceremony served not only as an award presentation but also as a meaningful recognition of the library’s vital role in strengthening the university’s knowledge and research ecosystem.

“In line with USM’s aspiration to be a sustainability-led university, I am confident that the library will continue to be an inclusive and progressive space that nurtures a culture of learning, broadens access to knowledge, and shapes graduates who are critical thinkers, ethical, and socially responsible,” she added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Librarian, Puan Sukmawati Muhamad expressed her pride in the collective achievements of the library team, highlighting their strong teamwork and dedication as the driving force behind the library’s success.

“This ceremony is held to honour and celebrate the efforts and contributions of all Musa Mohamad Library staff, who have continued to show unwavering commitment despite challenges,” she said.

“The success of any organisation is never the result of one individual, but of a strong, united team working towards a shared goal,” she added.

Sukmawati also encouraged library staff to remain motivated and committed to delivering the best possible service to the university and the community, even as the educational landscape continues to evolve.

“To all our staff, you are the library’s greatest asset where Your sacrifices, determination, and teamwork are invaluable, and this ceremony stands as proof that your efforts are seen, valued, and celebrated,” she said.

Several awards were presented during the event, including the Excellent Service Award, recognising outstanding performance in various categories such as Service Excellence, Innovation, and Dedicated Service to the library.
