BRIEFING AND STUDENT HANDOVER SESSION STRENGTHENS HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF KKTSS STUDENTS

NIBONG TEBAL, 2 April 2026 - Approximately 537 undergraduate engineering students participated in the Briefing and Handover Session for co-curriculum courses with credit for Semester 2, Academic Session 2025/2026, held today at Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus (KKTSS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

The programme involved 28 co-curriculum courses with credit, offered under University Courses and Mata Pelajaran Pengajian Umum Group U4 (MPU4), designed to fulfil the graduation requirements of students from 11 undergraduate engineering degree programmes at the campus.

Deputy Director of the Co-curriculum Programme Centre of the campus, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Salman Abu Mansor, said the courses provide students with opportunities to gain new knowledge and skills through various co-curricular thrusts offered.

He said among the focus areas are sustainability, culture, entrepreneurship and innovation, sports, and public speaking, which help balance academic development while nurturing students’ identity and soft skills.

“The co-curriculum courses offered are in line with current developments and support the university’s APEX agenda and the Malaysia MADANI aspiration in producing well-balanced and competitive graduates,” he said in his speech.

Meanwhile, Programme chairman of the Co-curriculum Programme Centre of the campus, Associate Professor Dr. Azam Taufik Mohd Din, expressed hope that students would take the opportunity to explore their interests and talents through the various teaching and learning approaches planned by experienced instructors.

He added that the co-curriculum courses also serve as a platform to promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen unity and interaction among local multi-racial students as well as international students.

The session also involves 25, out of 28 instructors who will be responsible for the co-curriculum courses throughout the semester.
