SARUNG FUN CATWALK SUPPORTS CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE

NIBONG TEBAL, 8 April 2026 - Science and Engineering Research Centre (SERC), Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus (KKTSS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), today organised the Sarung Fun Catwalk programme as part of its initiative to strengthen the campus sustainability agenda.
The programme, held in collaboration with the Engineering Campus Sustainability Committee, emphasised health sustainability through active participation of campus members in a casual and inclusive physical activity.
SERC Coordinator, Hariy Pauzi, said the programme aligns with the objectives of sustainability initiatives at the campus level, particularly in promoting a healthy lifestyle among its community.

“In addition, the organisation of this programme also considers the recommendation of the Campus Sustainability Director, Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Chang Chun Kiat, for such initiatives to be established as one of the campus’s official programmes in strengthening the overall sustainability agenda,” she said.
She also proposed that the Sarung Fun Catwalk be made an annual campus event, with the potential to be expanded to include a more challenging distance or route in the future.
“At the same time, this programme provides an opportunity for campus members to engage in outdoor activities that support physical well-being, while helping to balance the demands of daily work routines,” she added.
The two-kilometre programme saw the participation of approximately 62 campus staff, reflecting the continued commitment of the KKTSS USM community towards advancing sustainability initiatives.
