OCTOBER 2026 INTAKE NOW OPEN FOR USM MASTER OF SCIENCE IN FIRE SAFETY ENGINEERING, WITH HRD CORP FUNDING SUPPORT
NIBONG TEBAL, 16 April 2026 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has opened applications for the Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering programme for the October 2026 intake, offering funding support through the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRD Corp), which provides added value for professionals in the industry.
The programme, which has been offered since 2021, is developed in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) and industry partners, with emphasis on fire analysis, structural protection, and fire investigation, in line with the current needs of the safety and construction sectors.
The availability of HRD Corp funding is one of the key factors making the programme more attractive, particularly for employers and industry practitioners.
Through this scheme, company levies can be utilised to cover tuition fees, thereby reducing financial burden, and encouraging continuous upskilling among the workforces.
The programme is also designed with a flexible approach to accommodate working professionals, including weekend classes and blended learning, enabling participants to balance career commitments and academic pursuits effectively.
In addition, the programme is recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and offers alternative entry pathways through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) for experienced industry professionals without a bachelor’s degree.
