The Occupational Safety and Health Unit (UKKP), including at the Engineering Campus and Health Campus, was officially established on October 2, 2002 (University Board of Directors Meeting, October 1, 2002). UKKP is responsible for managing aspects of occupational safety and health (OSH) at USM in a centralized manner in line with national legislation, particularly the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
Vision of UKKP is to lead excellent and effective occupational safety and health management. Meanwhile, the mission of UKKP is to empower occupational safety and health management through legal compliance, effective risk control, and fostering a safe and healthy work culture.
Functions of UKKP:
- Acting as an advisor to the University through the University Occupational Safety and Health Committee and other related committees.
- Ensuring the University's compliance with laws, regulations, codes of practice, and standards related to occupational safety and health.
- Planning activities and programs related to occupational safety and health, including ensuring the implementation and effectiveness of the University's occupational safety and health policy.
- Coordinating the implementation of audits, inspections, and risk assessments of work areas as well as workplace accident investigations.
- Providing services to PTJ related to aspects of occupational safety and health managed centrally as decided by the University.
- Promoting a safe and healthy working environment to the campus community through training programs, courses, awareness campaigns, and similar initiatives.
- Serving as a reference and information center regarding occupational safety and health aspects for the campus community and external agencies.
