MUSA MOHAMAD LIBRARY AT USM SELECTED AS SPECIAL VENUE FOR KEM DA’I PENA MUDA KPM 2025
NIBONG TEBAL, 25 May 2025 – The Musa Mohamad Library at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Engineering Campus has been selected as a special venue for one of the key sessions of the Kem Da’I Pena Muda (National Young Writer Da’i Camp) 2025 organised by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE).
The selection was made by the Penang State Education Department (JPN Pulau Pinang), the official organiser of the programme, in recognition of USM’s commitment to nurturing young talent in creative and faith-based writing, as well as its strong support for school students' creativity and character development.
This national-level programme is being held from 23 to 26 May 2025 at SMKA Syeikh Abdullah Fahim (SMKASAF), Kepala Batas.
A total of 170 students from across the country are participating in the camp, supported by 7 trainers, 29 facilitators, 32 assistant facilitators, and 18 officers from JPN Pulau Pinang, who also attended the session at the USM Engineering Campus today.
Kem Da’i Pena Muda aims to uncover new talent in creative writing, particularly short stories with a dakwah (Islamic outreach) theme. The programme aligns with MOE’s aspiration to produce competitive, critical-thinking students with strong values and leadership.
Adding to the excitement of the session at USM was a special lecture delivered by Professor Dr. Mohd Azmier Ahmad, the USM Engineering Campus Coordinator and Head of the Research Advancement Cluster: Engineering at the Research Creativity and Management Office (RCMO).
Professor Dr. Azmier, who is also a member of the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) at SMKASAF, shared his insights on the importance of knowledge in transforming students towards excellence.
In addition to the lecture session, visiting JPN officers were also taken on a tour of the School of Aerospace Engineering at USM, aimed at providing greater exposure to the fields of engineering and technology for both students and programme facilitators.
