USM SECURES 3RD AND 4TH PLACE, WINS BEST TEAM AWARD AT ROBOCON MALAYSIA 2025
BATU PAHAT, June 23, 2025 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) team once again delivered an impressive performance by clinching 3rd and 4th place, as well as the Best Team Award at the ROBOCON Malaysia 2025 competition held recently.
The annual competition, organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), saw the participation of 26 teams from public and private higher education institutions across the country.
Teams competed in a high-level robotics challenge inspired by innovative themes.
The USM contingent comprised 47 students, including 35 from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (PPKEE), 10 from the School of Mechanical Engineering (PPKM), one from the School of Aerospace Engineering (PPK Aero), and one from the School of Chemical Engineering (PPKK).
The competition, held at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Johor from 17 to 19 June, saw Team USM A named Best Team of 2025 in recognition of their outstanding teamwork, innovative robot design, and strategic excellence.
Team advisor Sam Yu Jie (24) from PPKEE expressed his sincere appreciation to the Dean and staff of PPKEE, the team manager, the Integrated Research Centre, the Division of Student Affairs and Alumni (BHEPA), sponsors, and all parties who provided unwavering support throughout the team’s preparation journey.
"Although we did not secure the top overall title, this achievement is especially meaningful after nearly a year of rigorous development that combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on technical work and tremendous team spirit," he added.
