ACADEMIC SESSION 2025/2026, USM ENGINEERING CAMPUS WELCOMES 792 NEW STUDENTS

NIBONG TEBAL, 28 September 2025 — A total of 792 new students had registered at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Engineering Campus here as of this afternoon for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, out of the 919 admission offers issued.

USM Engineering Campus Director, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, said the university is committed to providing the best learning environment for students, supported by modern facilities and dedicated responsibility centres (PTJ).

“These facilities will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic development and personal growth throughout their four years on campus,” she said.

She added that the campus is well-equipped with advanced laboratories, a library, sports facilities, ICT infrastructure, health services and counselling support, all of which are available to students.

“All these are in place to ensure students can pursue their studies with excellence, while maintaining a balance between academic performance, personal development and campus life,” she said when welcoming the new intake today.

Professor Mariatti also emphasised the importance of embracing the university’s values and culture, including academic excellence, ethics, integrity and adherence to campus regulations.

“At USM, we aim to produce graduates who are not only outstanding academically, but who also possess strong character, integrity and the ability to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation after completing their studies,” she said.

She also took the opportunity to thank parents in attendance, assuring them that the university places a strong emphasis on the welfare and safety of all students.

Following the new intake, the USM Engineering Campus now accommodates nearly 5,000 students across six schools, namely Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
