NIBONG TEBAL, 28 October 2025 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) took another step forward in fostering international collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the university and JET Corporation, Japan, held at the USM Engineering Campus today.

The partnership focuses on the Environmental Recycling System with Ammonia Gas Recovery project, marking a cross-disciplinary collaboration between USM’s School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Aerospace Engineering, and School of Chemical Engineering.

The Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Abdullah Aziz Saad, said that the collaboration signifies more than a formal agreement as it represents a shared commitment to advancing academic-industry partnerships within the framework of public universities.

“This collaboration is more than just a memorandum, it is a meaningful exchange of knowledge that strengthens the research culture in public universities,” said Abdullah, adding that when an industry partner like JET Corporation comes to campus to discuss joint projects, it shows that the expertise developed here is recognized internationally.

“Each partnership like this adds great value, not only technologically but also in building interdisciplinary collaboration while empowering young researchers. This is what defines a university, a space for knowledge, sharing, and collective progress,” he added.
