ENGINEERING CAMPUS SHINES AT AKADEMIA FIESTA 2025

NIBONG TEBAL, 28 October 2025 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Engineering Campus achieved outstanding success at Akademia Fiesta@USM 2025, held in conjunction with the annual Bulan Akademia (Academia Month), by securing multiple awards across academic and educational innovation categories.

With the theme “Building Networks of EduChamps,” the event was organised by the Centre for Development of Academic Excellence (CDAE) and officiated by the USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed.

From the School of Civil Engineering, Professor Ir. Dr. Taksiah A. Majid, Associate Professor Dr. Sharifah Akmam Syed Zakaria, and Abdul Hakim Salleh won a Silver Medal for their project “Wind Disaster Risk Awareness Program for Primary School Students”.

In the MOOC Challenge category, two Silver Medals were also awarded to Ir. Dr.-Ing. Noor Ashrina A. Hamid from the School of Chemical Engineering for the MOOC “Introduction to Chemical Engineering” and to a team from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering comprising Ts. Dr. Noramalina Abdullah, Dr. Intan Sorfina Zainal Abidin, and Ts. Dr. Nur Zatil Ismah Hashim for their MOOC “Life with IoT for Everyone”.

Meanwhile, in the EduChamp Challenge category, Puan Aida Shuhaida Mustafa, a language instructor from the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, received a Silver Medal for her project “Empowering Future Leaders: Stage Play Strategies in Modern Theatre Courses to Nurture Talent among USM Students”.

She also earned a Bronze Medal for her project “Bengkel Celik Tatabahasa” (Grammar Literacy Workshop).

Another language instructor from the same school, Puan Suzila Mohd Shukor, garnered two Silver Medals for her projects “RPR - Reader Podcast Revolution” and “Over the MUN@USM: Speak to Impact”.

Also present at the event was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dato’ Gs. Dr. Narimah Samat.
