USM HOSTS MARASTEM GREENTECH 2.0 PROGRAM WITH MRSM IN PENANG

NIBONG TEBAL, 14 November 2025 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), under the 2025 Vice-Chancellor’s special STEM initiative, organised a collaborative STEM-themed program, MARASTEM GREENTECH 2.0, with three Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) schools in Penang.
According to the Program Leader, Associate Professor Dr. Nor Asniza Ishak from the School of Educational Studies, the initiative aims to promote STEM culture among students while strengthening strategic collaboration between USM and MARA.


“The program, which focuses on STEM education with an emphasis on green technology, combines project-based learning, green technology applications, and career exposure,” Dr. Asniza said.
She added that the program is expected to positively impact 150 participating students, enhancing their motivation, skills, and career aspirations in STEM fields through interactive learning methods.
“The program also provides a platform for students to explore knowledge and develop innovation and creativity skills through practical, hands-on STEM activities,” Dr. Asniza explained.


During the program, students were taken on visits to the Schools at the Engineering Campus and the Aerospace Discovery Centre @ USM Hangar, offering practical exposure and direct learning experiences in science, technology, and engineering.
The participating MRSM schools for this program included MRSM Transkrian, MRSM Balik Pulau, and MRSM Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Kepala Batas.
