766 ENGINEERING GRADUATES RECEIVE DEGREES AT USM’S 63RD CONVOCATION

PENANG, 28 November 2025 - A total of 766 postgraduate and undergraduate engineering graduates from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) received their degrees at the sixth and seventh sessions of the 63rd Convocation, held here today.

The number comprises graduates from six engineering programmes offered by USM, namely Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

USM Engineering Campus Director, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar, congratulated all graduates in her address and expressed appreciation to parents, lecturers and university staff who have supported the students throughout their academic journey.

She also emphasised the importance of integrity, professionalism, and ethics in engineering practice, while reminding graduates to embrace lifelong learning to keep pace with rapid technological advancement and the evolving needs of industry.

Professor Mariatti further encouraged graduates to remain active as alumni, including building professional networks, sharing expertise and contributing to current students through various university initiatives.

“Alumni engagement not only supports the university’s development but also motivates students to pursue academic excellence and prepare for their future career pathways,” she said.

She concluded her speech by urging graduates to remain knowledgeable, responsible engineers who are committed to contributing meaningfully to society in line with the future demands of the engineering field.
