USM ENGINEERING CAMPUS SHOWCASES STUDENT TALENT AT CULTURAL NIGHT AND CO-CURRICULUM EXHIBITION

NIBONG TEBAL, 10 December 2025 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Engineering Campus came alive today with a twin programme featuring the Static Exhibition and Demonstration of Co-Curriculum Courses and the Co-Curriculum Cultural Night for Semester 1, Academic Session 2025/2026.

Organised by the Event Management Course (WSC127) under the Centre for Co-Curricular Programme (Pusat Ko-k), the event served as a platform for engineering students to showcase the outcomes of their co-curricular learning across various fields including vocal performance, dance, and martial arts.

The day segment featured static displays and demonstrations from multiple courses, while the evening was highlighted by a cultural showcase consisting of dance, music, theatre, and skill-based demonstrations by students under the Pusat Ko-k Engineering Campus.

USM Engineering Campus Director, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, who attended the Cultural Night, said the programme reflects the strength of the campus community in nurturing engineering students who are both holistic and creative.

“Communication, leadership, teamwork and discipline are among the essential attributes that form the identity of USM students, and these courses help balance academic excellence with strong character development,” she said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Centre for Co-Curricular Programme, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Salman Abu Mansor, said the twin event serves as an important avenue for students to develop new talents and cultivate interest in cultural, technical, and demonstration-based activities.

“The Static Exhibition, Course Demonstrations and Cultural Night highlight how our students can excel beyond lecture halls, where values such as integrity, teamwork and discipline are effectively nurtured through co-curricular courses,” he added.

Among the courses featured during the Cultural Night were PALAPES Army, PALAPES Air Force, PALAPES Navy, Choir, Modern Theatre, Aerobics, Silat and Guitar.

Also present were Director of the USM Centre for Co-Curricular Programme, Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Hazizan Mohd Hashim, Chairman of the Co-Curricular Programme (Engineering Campus), Associate Professor Dr. Azam Taufik Mohd Din, and Coordinator of the Integrity & Anti-Corruption Course WAR122, Dr. Mohamad Haniff Junos.
