NIBONG TEBAL, 12 December 2025 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) continues to boost its international network through a recent visit by delegates from Kocaeli University (KOU) and Hacettepe University (HU), Turkiye, to its Engineering Campus.

The official visit, held from 8 to 10 December 2025, focused on expanding academic and research collaborations, particularly with the School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering (PPKBSM).

Engineering Campus Director, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, who also received a courtesy visit from HU’s Dr. Davut Ankasut during the engagement, said that USM highly welcomes the presence of the delegates from KOU and HU.

She noted that the visit not only strengthens existing academic and research ties but also opens new avenues for strategic collaboration in the areas of elastomers and advanced materials.

“As a campus committed to high-impact technological development, we deeply appreciate the commitment of our international partners in exploring new innovations for the benefit of the global community.

“Our hope is that this meeting will translate into joint research projects, knowledge exchange, and talent development initiatives that will add value to the engineering ecosystem in both Malaysia and Turkiye,” she said.

The visit, involving Professor Dr. Bagdagul Karraggac from KOU and Dr. Davut Ankasut from HU, aimed to identify potential areas for academic and strategic cooperation between USM and the two leading universities from Turkiye.

It also forms part of the ongoing activities under the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between USM-KOU and USM-HU, signed on 9 April 2025 in Istanbul, Turkiye, which focus on elastomers, advanced materials, and other related key fields.
