MPP KKTSS-LED “KONGSI REZEKI” PROGRAM STRENGTHENS TIES BETWEEN STUDENTS AND LOCAL COMMUNITY

NIBONG TEBAL, 5 March 2026 - The spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility among students was further strengthened through the organisation of the Kongsi Rezeki Bersama: Sentuhan Ukhuwah Mahasiswa Kejuruteraan programme by the Student Representative Council (MPP) of the Universiti Sains Malaysia Engineering Campus, also known as the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus (KKTSS), earlier this morning.
Held from 3.00 a.m. to 5.00 a.m., the programme involved the distribution of free sahur meals to communities in Nibong Tebal and Parit Buntar as a symbolic gesture of sharing blessings while fostering a stronger sense of solidarity between students and the surrounding community.
The programme also received strong support from the Student Affairs and Alumni Development Division (BHEPA) of KKTSS, which played an important role in ensuring the smooth implementation of the initiative.
The activity involved the leadership of the MPP, its secretariat members, as well as students from the engineering campus who worked together in preparing, packing and distributing the meals to targeted groups including security personnel, night-shift workers and local residents.

MPP Campus President Muhammad Nuraiman Mohd Yusrino said the initiative reflects students’ commitment to playing an active role as agents of social change.
“This programme demonstrates how a small initiative can create a meaningful impact in building a campus community that is supportive and compassionate,” he said.
According to him, the programme also aligns with the university’s aspiration to nurture well-rounded students through value-based approaches emphasising volunteerism and leadership.
He added that the programme also supports the government’s aspiration to strengthen the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2 - Zero Hunger and Goal 17 - Partnerships for the Goals, through efforts to address food security issues and expand collaboration with local communities.
The Kongsi Rezeki programme is expected to continue as a regular campus initiative to further strengthen relationships between students, the university administration and the wider community, in line with the role of the university as an institution that excels not only academically but also actively contributes to social responsibility.
