34 KKTSS ACADEMIC STAFF ATTEND “COLLABORATION INDUSTRY - INSTITUTION THROUGH HRD CORP” TALK

NIBONG TEBAL, 6 April 2026 - A total of 34 academic staff from the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus (KKTSS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) attended the “Collaboration Industry - Institution Through HRD Corp” talk today, organised by the Office of the Campus Director.

The talk was delivered by Puteri Simaa Megat Ismail, Assistant Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement Northern Region, Human Resources Development Corporation (HRDCorp).

The programme aimed to provide participants with a clear understanding of the opportunities, procedures, and benefits offered by HRD Corp, including how schools and centres of excellence within the campus can leverage HRD Corp-funded training programmes.

The Campus Director, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, who was present to show support, said the programme is a continuation of the online session held on 9 September 2025.

“Based on the positive feedback from the previous programme, today’s face-to-face session allows participants to ask questions and receive direct clarification from HRD Corp representatives,” she explained.

The session focused on the types of training and opportunities available through HRD Corp, including the training options open to industry staff and the procedure for applying for HRD Corp-funded MSc/PhD tuition.

The talk also aimed to enhance academic staff understanding of collaborative opportunities in skills development and industrial training provided by HRD Corp.

In her speech, the Campus Director expressed hope that attendees would make the most of this opportunity to enrich their knowledge and gain useful insights that can be applied within their respective academic programmes and industry collaboration initiatives.

Also present were the Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Abdullah Aziz Saad, and the Director of the River Engineering and Urban Drainage Research Centre (REDAC), Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Chang Chun Kiat  as well as Assistant Vice President, Account Management - Penang Office Northern Region Department, Regional Operations Division, HRD Corp., Mohamad Shahril Azuan Mohamad Nor.
