LGU CHAIRMAN CONDUCTS GROUND ENGAGEMENT SESSION WITH CAMPUS MANAGEMENT AND STUDENT LEADERSHIP AT KKTSS USM

NIBONG TEBAL, 23 April 2026 - A working visit by the Chairman of the University Board of Governors (LGU), Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Hassan Said, to the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus (KKTSS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today emphasised a direct engagement approach with campus management and student leadership.
According to Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Hassan Said, the visit provided an opportunity for him to hear first‑hand views and feedback from both the campus management and student representatives.


He noted that such an approach is important in enabling the Board to identify areas for improvement that can be further strengthened, particularly in terms of support and the role of the University Board of Governors.
The visit, which took place at the Science and Engineering Research Centre (SERC), included a campus briefing presented by the Director of the Engineering Campus, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, highlighting current developments as well as the strategic direction of the campus.


This was followed by a discussion session with members of the Campus Management Committee and the Campus Executive Committee, focusing on management and operational matters, as well as proposed improvements to further enhance campus governance.
The visit continued with a dialogue session involving student leaders from the Student Representative Council (MPP) and the Residential College Council (MPD), providing a platform for the sharing of views and discussion of campus‑related issues.
During the session, three key focus areas were highlighted, namely student welfare, well‑being and academic development, as part of efforts to ensure a conducive and balanced learning environment.
