SCHOOL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING CELEBRATES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE OF 141 STUDENTS

22 April 2026 - The School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), honoured a total of 141 undergraduate students from Years 1 to 4 for their outstanding academic performance in Semester 1 of the 2025/2026 Academic Session through the Dean’s List Award Ceremony held today.
The ceremony, conducted in a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere, was organised with the collaboration of the Student Representative Council (SRC), the Chemical Engineering Student Society (CHESS), and with the support of the school’s staff members.
In his address, the Dean of the School, Professor Ir. Dr. Zainal Ahmad, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all award recipients.
However, he emphasised that academic excellence should not be viewed as the sole indicator of student success.

According to him, personal character development and the mastery of soft skills must also be given due emphasis to better prepare students for future career challenges and life beyond university.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Dean (Academic, Career and International) of the school, Associate Professor Dr. Azam Taufik Mohd Din, who also served as the programme advisor, commended the smooth and well-organised execution of the ceremony.
He noted that the success of the event reflected the efficiency and commitment of the organising secretariat, comprising both students and staff, who carried out their respective responsibilities with excellence.

“We will continue to organise similar ceremonies every semester to celebrate the achievements of SCE students,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Programme Director, Nur Afiqah Zulhilmi Margulin (Year 1) expressed her appreciation to the school for its continuous support of the event and voiced her hope that such programmes would be sustained in the future as a motivational platform for students to strive harder in attaining the Dean’s List Award.
