KKTSS CLINCHES CHAMPION TITLE IN USM 1,000 JALUR GEMILANG BRISK WALK 2026

USM PULAU PINANG, 9 September 2026 - The Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus (KKTSS) emerged as the champion of the USM 1,000 Jalur Gemilang Brisk Walk 2026, held in conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebration today.
KKTSS emerged victorious among 32 participating contingents in the group brisk walk competition, which brought together participants from the Main Campus, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus and the Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Cancer Centre (PKTAAB).
Organised by the Registrar’s Department, the programme featured a recreational group brisk walk covering a three-kilometre route around the USM campus.
The group-based format emphasised teamwork, coordination and team spirit throughout the route.

The KKTSS contingent was led by Chief Assistant Bursar of the Bursar’s Department, Ismail Jamaluddin, and comprised 35 staff members - nine from the Registrar’s Department, 16 from the Bursar’s Department and 10 from the Department of Development and Facilities Management (JPPF).
According to Ismail, the achievement was the result of the commitment, cooperation and strong team spirit demonstrated by all contingent members throughout the preparations and the programme.
“As the Contingent Leader, I was deeply moved by the dedication and sense of togetherness shown by all staff, who made time to train and give their best for the team,” he said.

“Alhamdulillah, all the effort, hard work and sacrifices have paid off with our victory. We did not win because of one individual, but because we moved forward as one team,” he added.
He also expressed his appreciation to all contingent members, and everyone directly and indirectly involved in ensuring the success of KKTSS’s participation.
The Main Campus Digital Transformation Centre secured second place, while the Academic Management Division of the Main Campus finished third.
The USM 1,000 Jalur Gemilang Brisk Walk 2026 was among the activities held in conjunction with USM’s Malaysia Day celebration, bringing together members of the university community in a relaxed and healthy setting while fostering a strong sense of togetherness and patriotism.
