REICP PRE-LAUNCH: PPKA - SRS CONSORTIUM STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO ENHANCE GRADUATE EMPLOYABILITY IN THE RAILWAY INDUSTRY

NIBONG TEBAL, 13 October 2026 - The School of Civil Engineering (PPKA), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in strategic collaboration with SRS Consortium Sdn. Bhd. (SRSC), today organised the pre-launch of the Railway Engineering Industry Collaboration Programme (REICP).
The programme, under the Public Sector Skills Enhancement Programme (PERKASA), received an encouraging response, attracting more than 400 students and academic staff from PPKA.
The pre-launch ceremony also featured an industry talk entitled “Railway Engineering: The Civil Engineer’s Legacy in Modern Rail Infrastructure Projects”, delivered by Dato’ Adil Putra Ahmad, Project Director of SRS Consortium Sdn. Bhd.
The session provided students with insights into the vital role of civil engineers in developing modern railway infrastructure, while broadening their understanding of career opportunities and competency requirements in the railway industry.

Planned since early 2024, REICP is the first certification programme developed through a strategic collaboration between PPKA and SRSC. The initiative marks a significant milestone in strengthening academia-industry relations and developing professional competencies in railway engineering in Malaysia.
REICP integrates industry expertise with experiential learning through seminars, workshops, mentoring sessions and site visits. Its training modules cover railway systems and infrastructure, design, construction, safety, digital technology, project management and sustainability.
With an investment commitment of RM440,000 from SRSC for the period from 2026 to 2030, the programme is expected to strengthen PPKA students’ technical knowledge, practical skills and professional competencies, thereby enhancing their career readiness and graduate employability.
The implementation of REICP also reflects PPKA’s continued commitment to expanding strategic industry partnerships to produce competent, competitive and industry-ready civil engineering graduates who can meet the needs of the country’s railway and transportation development sectors.
