USM AND AL-MUSTAQBAL UNIVERSITY INTRODUCE NEW OFFSHORE MASTER’S PROGRAMS IN IRAQ
NIBONG TEBAL, 6 November 2024 - A new offshore Master of Science in Electronic Systems Design Engineering (Mixed Mode) programme has recently been launched by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in collaboration with Al-Mustaqbal University (UOMUS).
During the ceremony, USM also announced the launch of its Master of Science in Engineering Design for Electronic Systems (Mixed Mode) programme through an offshore partnership with UOMUS in Hilal, Babylon, Iraq.
Guided by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, this pioneering programme represents a significant milestone, marking the inaugural instance of its kind in Iraq and the Middle East.
The Offshore Launch Event on 14 October 2024 marked a significant step forward in the academic partnership between USM and UOMUS, as it welcomed 19 Iraqi nationals who have officially enrolled as active students for Semester 1 of the 2024/2025 academic session.
Six qualified lecturers from UOMUS are engaged in teaching, with the programme's courses and curriculum meticulously aligned with the standards set by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering Campus, USM.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majd, President of UOMUS, and Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Shahrel Azmin Sundi@Suandi, Dean of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, delivered a welcome address on behalf of USM.
The official launch was preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on 2 May 2024, which formalised the shared commitment of USM and UOMUS to provide high-quality education in Iraq.
