USM ENGINEERING CAMPUS WELCOMES COURTESY VISIT OF TAN SRI DATO' PROFESSOR EMERITUS IR. DR. CHUAH HEAN TEIK FROM EAC

NIBONG TEBAL, 20 January 2025 – The Engineering Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today was honoured to host a courtesy visit by Tan Sri Dato' Professor Emeritus Ir. Dr. Chuah Hean Teik from the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC).

The visit was met with a positive response from the Director of the Engineering Campus, Professor Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, Deans of Schools, and the Director of the SWA-Accreditation Centre (PSA) of USM, Professor Dr. Azura A. Rashid.

During his remarks, Chuah emphasized EAC's proactive efforts in fostering closer collaborations with Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) while reflecting on the council's initiatives in recent years.

He stated that EAC has decided to enhance its approach by not only receiving applications from the IHLs but also engaging in more interactive initiatives.

“In order to facilitate the development of new programmes and the accreditation process, it would be beneficial for some EAC members to visit the IHLs on a more informal basis to interact with you all,” he said.

The visit concluded with a meeting between Tan Sri Dato' Professor Emeritus Ir. Dr. Chuah, Professor Mariatti as the Campus Director, the deans, the head of departments and the head of programmes.

The meeting involved a discussion of the latest developments regarding EAC accreditation and the IHL's current accreditation award for the programme.
